Radio 95.5-FM Tower of Strength features a mix of highly interactive talk and a little Caribbean R&B and Top 40 music. I-95 is a Louis Lee Singh creation. Several years ago he brought Power 102 to the number 1 radio station in the country. Louis goal is to operate a radio station that caters to a national audience, instead of a niche market. So far ... so good. The station is reaching an upscale, affluent audience as well as the middle and lower class, 60% African and 40% Indian plus others.
6A-10A, I-95 features the Number One morning show DJs for the last 13 years, Tony and Dale. The talk a little and play a little music. Highly interacting with the audience, taking questions and giving answers. You'll also hear "the quote of the day".
4P-7P, Jerome and Umbala entertain the I-95 afternoon drive time audience with light-hearted fun, an excellent music mix and top-notch interaction.
TBC Radio Network (730-AM Radio Trinidad, Sangeet 106.1-FM, CT Vibe 105-FM, and The The Best Mix 95.1-FM)
730-AM Radio Trinidad plays inspirational music, religious programs, political issue programs, and a variety of live talk shows. The station reaches a mature adult demographic, 45+. Advertising is limited to established corporate clients advertising established household products. Never will you hear new products being launched on 730-AM Radio.
Sangeet 106.1-FM caters primarily to the East Indian population reaching an adult demographic, 25+. The station features religious, Muslim and Hindu music, including "Bollywood" music. This is music soundtracks from India's movie industry. It is extremely popular with the East Indian audience. The announcers are very popular with a dedicated following.
Vibe 105-FM features a format of R&B, Soul, Reggae and Socca music, reaching
a middle-class, adult demographic, 13-39. The mix of music and overall programming
makes this station more popular with the youth, 13-24, than toward the upper
age demo. VIBE plays the cricket match games and has a loyal following of
listeners especially during the West Indies Cricket Tour every Spring. Almost
half of Trinidad's population is African decent and this station reaches
9% of that audience (the majority half of the population is East Indian).
VIBE 105 also has one of the country's most well-respected radio personality,
Jason Alleyne, a/k/a "Jus Jas," is the heart and soul of the station.
The Best Mix 95.1-FM features top Adult Contemporary Rock Hits from the 70s, 80s, 90s and today. It is a complete music and entertainment station reaching an affluent, mixed audience, 17-40. Monday through Friday, Jean and Samantha host the morning drive show from 5:30AM to 9AM. Jean is a true, professional entertainer ... 10 years in the business. Sam has a "Mothering" effect on him and together they make morning drive a blast with a lot of fun, music, games and information. Emmett Hennessey, 9AM to Noon, an international radio broadcaster for more than 25 years, brings a wealth of music knowledge to the listeners. On Saturday, from 4PM to 8PM, he hosts t he Top 40 International Music Countdown. This program has very high ratings!
Esha, a top-notch radio personality, is on the air from 12PM
to 4PM. She features a romantic blend of laid back, soft rock music, appropriate
for the office worker. She can really work an audience, especially at live
outside broadcasts. That's where she shines ... everyone love to talk to
her
Afternoon drive time into early evening features Luis Hart, from 4PM to 8PM. He is a very controversial and popular "shock jock." There's never a dull moment on Luis' show.
Overall, The Best Mix has grown to become one of the top radio stations in the market.
Power 102-FM is a News/Talk/Information station featuring a mixed format of interesting current affairs. News One is Power 102's news program, broadcasting daily at 7AM, 8AM, Noon, 4PM and 6PM, featuring comprehensive news developments at home, in the region and internationally. News coverage extends to the sporting world, as well. News Two capsules 5 minutes of the top news stories and will air at 6AM, 5PM and 7PM, daily. WEFM 96.1-FM is the top radio station targeting young adults, 12-25. They feature Top 40, R&B, Dance Hall, Reggae, and Calypso music. WEFM delivers "cutting edge" music, reaching the young adult population of East Indians, Black Africans and Trinidadians. The station is part of a fully-integrated entertainment organization. WEFM takes pride in hosting concerts in Trinidad, as they are linked with the music industry's finest and popular entertainers from the UK, the Caribbean, and the United States. Their parent company owns a music label for professional recording artists, as well as a network of CD music stores.
Paul Richards, the station's program director, hosts a popular morning drive program, Monday through Friday from 6AM to 9AM. Adrian Dunmora hosts the 9AM to Noon segment with a laid back broadcasting delivery, soothing the office-oriented listener. From Noon to 3PM, Cherrill Villaran, does the afternoon program where the "energy of music" starts to increase. From 3PM to 6PM, Glen Antoine hosts the afternoon drive and he is very much in control of a high energy program. YES 98.9-FM features a Dance Hall music format including Urban, R&B, Rap, Hip Hop, Reggae and Socca Music hits reaching a young adult audience, 12-24.
FM-100 features a mixed format of International and Caribbean, Socca, and Calypso Adult Contemporary music with talk shows.
ICN ("Swarmilan") 91.1-FM caters to the East Indian and Muslim communities. Its format includes Indian Contemporary Hits and Talk Shows. Their audience reaches mature adults.
Music Radio 97.1-FM features an Adult Contemporary format of American and British music from the 70s, 80s and 90s ... "More music, less talk" and local news updates throughout the morning. The station never runs more than 3 commercials together. There are 5 breaks, or a maximum total of 15 commercials per hour. As an outcome of the station's commercial scheduling the airtime cost is significantly high for the market. The station reaches an adult demographic, 25+.
Radio 90.5-FM is a sister station to Music Radio 97 featuring East Indian music, religious programs and talk. It is stepping into the ranks as a respected new addition to the East Indian culture of Trinidad.
Television CCN-TV 6, the top television station in the country reaching an overwhelming majority of the total population, airs a fine variety of programs such as Seven Days, The Bold & the Beautiful, The Steve Harvey Show, Providence, Mad About You, The Pretender, Moesha, The Hughleys, and The X-Files. In addition, East Indian programs air late Saturday afternoons into the early evening, with programs such as Din Ul Ilaq, Mastana Bahar, and Filmi Sangeet.
