Although I have moved on to another assignment within the organization, I wanted to thank you for a successful campaign in the Caribbean Islands this past year. Also, thanks for helping us pioneer new ideas to the P&G Caribbean Management. You showed an incredible expertise of the Caribbean region. Who would have thought, at P&G, that a concerted effort on radio would have paid off as much as it did for us. Now all the other brands are copying what we did this past year and your participation in our plans is increasing more and more.
In the USVI, your expertise in the market helped us maintain and grow our shipments over 10% versus the same period a year ago. Thanks for being key in the promotion, planning, and subsequent media and promotion placement. It was key getting the best DJs at the best radio shows for our target. I am sorry for never giving you more than 2 weeks to plan some of these, but you know that.
In Bermuda and Bahamas, we improved our media placement and reach even when the distributors were not very cooperative with you. After this past year, they understood that we wanted them to focus on selling our products and not getting the best media rates for their brands (non-P&G). Actually, our promotions, radio and print ads had more prominence than ever before.
Thanks for your guidance in Jamaica. Jamaica has been a very confusing market. We realized that print/newspaper media was not the way to go there. Our radio-focused media there actually gave our main competitor a run for their money. Our brands have grown in Jamaica.
Ever since Annie Narvaez at Leo Burnett decided to use AmeriMedia we have seen very positive results in our campaigns. Our media purchase has become more efficient, media placement has improved, we are actually doing great promotions throughout the year where we used to have only a few, and in some cases, none. We have seen great shipment results.
